Nagar Fort & Resorts Chitral

Welcome to Nagar Fort, the first fort north of the Lowari pass, now beautifully restored and open to welcome visitors. Located near Chitral Valley on the way from Chitral to Lowari, Nagar Fort holds a rich history. Initially commissioned by the then Mehtar of Chitral, Shuja ul Mulk, the fort was constructed as a winter retreat, taking advantage of the relatively warmer climate in comparison to other parts of Chitral.

Perched on a ridge and surrounded by water on three sides, the fort is accessible via a suspension bridge. Its architectural charm includes an Outer Gate, an Outer Court, Inner Gate, and an Inner Courtyard. The meticulously maintained Gardens add to the allure of this historical site.
